A former golf club building has been badly damaged in a fire.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) said firefighters were called to the derelict structure on Christchurch Road, Longham at about 18:00 BST.

Images of the scene showed smoke billowing from the former Dudsbury Golf Club building.

DWFRS said it was "well alight" when firefighters arrived and warned nearby residents to keep doors and windows closed.

About 40 firefighters tackled the blaze at its height.

The service said crews remained on the scene at 21:00 but some appliances were being released.
