Plans to improve a Herefordshire town's main square are set to continue after they were put on hold.

Herefordshire Council wrote to businesses affected in Leominster explaining “difficulties with drainage and the sourcing of materials” had delayed the extensive project meaning it will now not be completed until late November.

The roads are due to be resurfaced, with wider pavements also being installed.

Construction work, which is also going on in High Street and Victoria Street, will now be complete by the end of September, the authority added.

The county council said disruption would be "minimised" following concerns expressed by businesses and residents.

It said it will make £2,500 available to promote events and festivals in the town and support events like the Food Fayre, which had to re-locate because of the work.

This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service which covers councils and other public service organisations.
