A man has been jailed for 12 years after he repeatedly engaged in sexual activity with a vulnerable 17-year-old girl.

Muhammed Usman, 39, of Bloomsbury Street, Birmingham, pleaded guilty last month to seven counts of sexual activity with a mentally disordered female.

At Birmingham Crown Court on 15 January, Usman was sentenced to 12 years in prison with another five to be served on licence.

Usman also pleaded guilty to one count of taking indecent photographs of a child, for which he was jailed for four years, to be served concurrently with the other sentence.

West Midlands Police said it was alerted last June to a man abusing a vulnerable teenage girl.

The force said videos of the abuse were discovered on Usman's phone.

"Usman took advantage of a vulnerable teenage girl for his own sexual gratification," said West Midlands Police.

"We are pleased with the sentence which sends out a clear message that people who behave in this depraved way will be convicted and will spend many years behind bars."

As well as the prison sentence, Usman was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely and given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
