Two "nonsensical" men who robbed two teenagers at knifepoint while they waited at a bus stop have been jailed.
Humberside Police received a call from a 16-year-old girl on 18 August 2022, reporting that herself and her brother, 18, had been robbed by men at a bus stop on Tilbury Road in Hull.
Dawson Phillips-Burns, 22, of West Acridge, Barton-upon-Humber, and Ben Sharp, 20, of Doncaster Road, Doncaster, were sentenced to a combined total of six years and 10 months at Hull Crown Court on Friday, after they previously pleaded guilty to robbery.
Det Con Ross Patterson, who led the investigation, said it had been a "targeted and aggressive robbery carried out by two utterly nonsensical men".
Wearing balaclavas, Sharp and Phillips-Burns had pulled up in front of the two siblings in a silver Ford Focus.
Phillips-Burns got out and demanded the girl's brother give him his belongings before attempting to rip his bag from his shoulder.
Sharp, armed with a knife, approached the 18-year-old, pushed him to the ground and took his bag and phone before he fled the scene with Phillips-Burns.
The latter was found to have the 18-year-old's bank card and a search of the car uncovered his stolen wallet, a bag of metal ball bearings and a knife with a 12cm blade.
Forensic testing confirmed that Sharp's fingerprint was on the blade.
Sharp was jailed for two years and four months and Phillips-Burns for four years and six months.
Det Con Patterson added: "We remain absolutely determined to tackle violent crime and take action against those responsible for serious offences of this nature.
"I am pleased to see these men held accountable and reassured to know they are now behind bars."
