Moseley Community Festival has taken place on and off for the past 50 years

An annual community festival in Birmingham will not take place this year, its organisers have said.

The Moseley Community Festival, which has taken place on and off for the past 50 years, includes live music, workshops, and market stalls.

The Moseley Community Development Trust (MCDT), the charity that runs the event, said in a Facebook post that "involvement in the festival had dwindled" in recent years and its summer slot clashed with other events.

The charity said the festival would have "a rest year in 2025" and asked residents to share their views on its format.

It also asked residents to suggest other community events that they would like to see this year, adding that "this pause does not mean an end".

Lucy Kenny, the MCDT's chief executive, said the festival had had fallow years before, and the charity would continue to put on several other events this year.

The charity's other projects include running the Moseley Hive, a community hub on Alcester Road that is used for events such as clothes swaps, repair cafes, and English classes.

Last year's festival in July included street stalls by local artists, a rock music workshop, and a community herb garden.

Ms Kenny added that it was important to gather views from the community about what format would work best for the festival now, because this might be different from what had worked in the past.
