Four people were taken to hospital after a chemical fire in a lab in Sheffield.

The fire broke out at a unit on Bailey Street, on the outskirts of the city centre, at about 17:05 GMT on Monday, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

Five fire crews and two ambulances were sent to the scene along with a hazardous material unit, with a dry powder extinguisher used to put out the flames.

The people in the lab were taken to the Northern General Hospital as a precautionary measure, Yorkshire Ambulance Service said.

Firefighters left the scene at 19:13, the fire service said.
