A crash that has left a woman in hospital and caused a fuel spill, led to long delays on the M6 motorway.
The driver was understood to be not seriously injured, following the collision involving two cars southbound at junction 7, at Great Barr, at about 06:40 BST.
Delays of nearly 45 minutes were reported and three lanes out of four were initially closed between junction 7 and 6, for Birmingham, before all reopened by 07:45 BST.
At that time National Highways reported five miles of congestion backing up to junction 10 for Walsall.
The woman was taken to Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham and there were no further injuries, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
The hard shoulder was used "as a live lane" and delays on the opposite side were likely caused by onlookers, traffic information provider Inrix stated earlier.
