Firefighters battled a solar panels blaze on a rooftop overlooking a Cornish beach.

Cornwall Fire Service said it was called to reports of a solar panel system fire on a building in Island Crescent, near Towan Beach, Newquay, at about 12:20 BST on Thursday.

Two fire engines and an aerial ladder platform from Newquay were sent to the scene.

A spokesperson said crews were able to "quickly secure" the area and the affected panel was removed by firefighters and an electrician.
