Man arrested after serious assault in town centre

A man has been arrested after a serious assault in a town centre.

Police said the victim, a man in his 50s, was taken to hospital after being found unconscious on Sheep Street, Northampton, following the assault, which happened between about 19:20 and 19:40 BST on Saturday.

The victim was repeatedly pushed causing him to fall over and remained in a serious condition in hospital, Northamptonshire Police said.

Officers said a 35-year-old man from Northampton had been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and released on bail pending further inquiries.
