Three arrested after teen has his 'neck cut'

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a teenager had his "neck cut" with what was believed to be a knife.

The victim, 17, was walking along an alleyway between Cassio Road and Exchange Road in Watford at about 15:40 BST on Bank Holiday Monday when he was assaulted, police said.

He suffered a cut to his neck which required hospital treatment, the force added.

A 19-year-old woman from Essex and a 20-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both from London, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and later released on conditional bail.

Police said a knife had been recovered as part of their investigation.

Ch Insp Andy Wiseman said: "This incident happened in a busy area, and I know the public witnessed a significant emergency services response on Monday afternoon.

"Officers arrived at the scene in under five minutes and secured the area. Following a thorough search, they arrested three people a short time later, as well as recovering a weapon.

"The victim is recovering, and I want to reassure the public that we are working hard to establish the circumstances of what happened.

"If anyone believes they witnessed the incident itself, or the moments before or after, I urge them to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
