A man has suffered serious injuries to his head and neck in an attack in Coventry, said police.

Officers were called to Robin Hood Road, Willenhall, at about 19:20 BST on Saturday after the man was found with serious injuries.

"It is believed the man had been involved in an argument with the person who attacked him," said West Midlands Police, adding it was "an isolated, but targeted attack" in which the two parties involved knew each other.

The injured man was taken to hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. Police have appealed for information.

Officers are carrying out inquiries in the area, the force added.
