An injured barn owl has been nursed back to health and released into the wild, an animal charity has said.
Jolene was found caught on chicken wire near stables in St Martin, Guernsey, in October and was brought in to the animal charity GSPCA with an injured right leg.
Animal care assistant Jack Le Moigne said she was prescribed rest and medication by the vets and became the first owl to be cared for in its new Goodall Aviary, named after the late primatologist and anthropologist Jane Goodall.
"After three nights in her new suite and with a belly full of mice, Jolene was released back to her territory - she flew off with strength and grace," he said.
GSPCA manager Steve Byrne said the charity lost a few of its aviaries due to a storm two years ago and was pleased the new one on Mount Attenborough had now hosted its first guest.
"It is wonderful when we can get wildlife back where they belong quickly," he said.
"We do see many birds at this time of year suffering with the weather and also trying to find food and shelter and also those that fly into something and daze or stun themselves."
