A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a man from South Yorkshire who went missing six years ago.
Richard Dyson, 55, disappeared in November 2019 and his remains were discovered earlier this year at a property on Broadcarr Road in Barnsley. A post-mortem examination later confirmed he had died as a result of shotgun wounds, South Yorkshire Police said.
Christopher Wright, 72, of Sheffield Road, Hoyland, appeared at Sheffield Crown Court on Monday charged with Mr Dyson's murder as well as preventing the lawful and decent burial of a body and 27 firearms offences.
He did not enter a plea and a provisional trial date was set for 8 June 2026 at the same court.
A plea and case management hearing was due to take place on 23 January, the court was told.
