A man described by police as "a danger to women" has been jailed for 18 years after being convicted of a series of violent sexual assaults.

Tyevon Bean, 34, of no fixed address, had denied 20 offences - including rape, non-fatal strangulation, controlling or coercive behaviour and making threats to kill - involving four women in East Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire.

He was sentenced on Monday after being convicted in November following a three-week trial at Hull Crown Court.

Officer in the case Det Con Lisa Grantham said: "Whilst the result does not take away the pain and suffering caused, I am pleased that Bean is where he belongs - locked away in prison."

The offences Bean was found guilty of committing against the four women were:

  • Controlling or coercive behaviour, two counts of rape, two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, non-fatal strangulation and threats to kill

  • Sexual assault by penetration, three counts of non-fatal strangulation and three counts of assault causing actual bodily harm

  • Two counts of non-fatal strangulation and assault by causing actual bodily harm

  • Rape, non-fatal strangulation and perverting the course of justice as he asked her to withdraw her statement to the police

Det Con Grantham said: "I'd like to start by commending the four women for their courage in coming forward."

"Bean is a violent and predatory individual who made four women endure horrific attacks of a sexual and violent nature.

"He is a danger to women and I am pleased to see him taken off our streets."

Bean also had a restraining order imposed on him and was ordered to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely.
