Organisers said Nottingham Victoria Embankment was a popular venue for competitions in years gone by

Competitive angling is returning to Nottingham, thanks to an initiative designed to get younger people into the sport.
The Canal & River Trust's Let's Fish! programme is to use Nottingham Victoria Embankment as the venue for the inaugural Regional Celebration event on a river.
Organisers said the Embankment enjoyed an angling heyday in the 1970s and they were keen to work with Nottingham Anglers Association to bring it back.
The event will take place on 26 July with cadet, junior and youth sections, and a chance to progress to national finals.

Those interested have been advised they will need to book a place and bring their own fishing equipment and bait, and have an Environment Agency rod licence if aged 13 or over.
Help and support will be available from the trust's Let's Fish coaches on the day.
A spokesperson said: "This regional celebration is ideal for any young person aged six or over who has been fishing a few times and is keen to learn more.
"This is one of 30 regional celebration events being held this year in seven regions around the country.
"There is both an individual and team element this year with the top team of three from each region going forward to the grand final in April 2026."
