A football club will move more than 160 personalised fans' bricks in a media facilities upgrade ahead of its first Premier League season in eight years.

Sunderland AFC said the blocks, located in panel S5 on the Jimmy Montgomery Stand at the Stadium of Light, would be placed outside the main entrance.

The installation is expected to take place within the next two to three months.

"We understand the deep emotional and personal significance associated with personalised bricks," the club added.

Hundreds of personalised bricks in panel eight on the East Stand also had to be moved last year for the opening of a new stadium store.

The club said at the time more than 447 supporters were estimated to be affected.

An opening event for the new panel will take place this month.
