Cornwall is hosting the first three-day Run To The Sun (RTTS) in a decade over the bank holiday weekend.

The event, which started in 1987, was one of the biggest custom car shows in the country before it ended in 2013.

Organisers successfully trialled the festival's return as a one-day event last year.

RTTS managing director Andreas Christopheros said it had been "a great journey bringing back the event".

'Cool classic cars'

Mr Christopheros said more than 2,000 people were staying at the festival site near Newquay, but expected up to 5,000 day visitors to the event.

He said: "It was a great success last year, which gave us the ability to scale up the event to now.

"We're anticipating somewhere between 4,000 and 5,000 people will be coming through the gates over the three days."

The showcase of custom cars and Volkswagen vehicles is presented in the style of a music festival, but Mr Christopheros said he wanted to take the new event back to its roots.

He said: "With the new model Run To The Sun, we've pushed the focus back to the classic, cool classic cars that built the event back up in the earlier years.

"With that, we've also taken the event in a much more family-orientated manner, they are on site have loads of family activities."

RTTS continues until 27 May.
