A workshop to help healthcare professionals deal with loss, grief and bereavement is taking place.

Grief expert, Mireille Hayden, will be leading the event after hosting other sell-out classes at Bristol Memorial Woodlands, near Thornbury.

Mrs Hayden said: “The workshop is designed to offer a supportive space for professionals to explore the themes of loss, grief and bereavement, both from their personal perspectives and in their capacity as caregivers."

Clinical advisor for South West Ambulance Service, Liz Early, believes that "death is not talked about enough".

Mrs Early, who has attended previous workshops, said: “As a nurse with the ambulance service, we’re very much into saving the life and we don’t have a lot of time to think about what happens after, so it’s great to receive this training on supporting people through loss, grief and bereavement.

"This workshop has made me more aware of what people go through when losing a loved one and I will be sharing this with colleagues.

"We don’t often get specialised training on this topic so this is something very much extra."

The next workshop is expected to take place in the summer.
