Attempted murder arrests after boy hit by car

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a boy was left in a critical condition when he was hit by a car.

The teenager suffered serious head injuries after he was struck by the vehicle on College Road, in Shelton, Stoke-on-Trent, at about 18:30 BST on Monday.

He was taken to hospital and his condition has been described as critical but stable, Staffordshire Police said.

Two men from Stoke-on-Trent, aged 18 and 20, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The 18-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

A police spokesperson said both men remained in custody and a dark blue BMW has been recovered from near Basford Park.
