A new mobile branch of the Post Office, external has launched and will serve 14 villages in Somerset and Dorset.

This will restore services to Odcombe, Tintinhull, Chilthorne Domer, and Melbury Osmond and change the existing services to Mosterton, Broadwindsor, Thorncombe, Stoke St Gregory, Shepton Beauchamp and Charmouth.

It will also re-open Mobile Post Office services at North Cadbury, Buckhorn Weston, Charlton Horethorne, and Corton Denham.

Crewkerne Postmaster Steve Smith, who runs the service said: "It's a really, really vital service for communities, it's just as vital as your village shop or your church, it is what makes a community."

Mary Morris was its first customer, buying stamps and withdrawing money.

She said: " It was fantastic, everything was working, it's all very smart and looking great and I've got my money so I can spend some now."

She also said she "would continue to use it in the future."
