An 88-year-old man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a lorry.

The man was hit by a white Scania HGV outside Philip Kirkby Jeweller on the A65 Otley Road, in Guiseley, at about 10:10 GMT, West Yorkshire Police said.

He suffered serious leg and hip injuries, which the force said were being treated as life-threatening due to his age.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the lorry or the man immediately beforehand is asked to contact police.
