TV show win is great for business, say B&B owners

The owners of a bed and breakfast say they are looking forward to hosting more visitors after winning TV show Four in a Bed.

Viewers saw The Bumble Barn in Tunstead, Norfolk, come out top in episodes of the Channel 4 show, screened last week.

Paul Grothier, who runs the B&B with wife Karen Griffin-Grothier, said the business had been a "labour of love".

He said: "I'm happy with how we do and how it's going... we had a right good giggle - and I have learnt to water ski."

The show sees four sets of owners stay at each other's B&Bs and rate them, with the winners announced at the end of the week.

The Bumble Barn has three guest rooms and opened in 2019.

'Bring it on'

Mr Grothier, a professional chef, said: "It's been a labour of love, really; a lot of work going into it.

"My father-in-law did a tonne of work... it is our home and we don't see what the other contestants are looking at."

He said filming the show felt like being in "a bubble".

Manager Debbie Sheridan, who accompanied him on the show, said: "We've had a huge increase so people are booking in now; bring it on, let's get busy."

Although the business received negative feedback over the cleanliness of one its bathrooms, Mr Grothier said he had made "some really good friends" from being on the show.

"We are proud of it; it's nice," he said.

"We didn't go in there to play a game, we went in there to be ourselves and just to show off what Karen has built up."
