A 19-year old man has appeared in court charged with multiple counts of robbery.

Leicestershire Police was called to Bath Lane in Leicester on 22 November, after reports a group of men had gone into a property before a man was attacked with a belt inside.

Richile Vagnu, of Bowes Road, Southgate, London, appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Saturday charged with nine counts of robbery and one count of intentional suffocation.

Police said four counts related to the Bath Lane incident and five related to another incident in the Harborough district on 21 November. Mr Vagnu was remanded in custody to appear at Leicester Crown Court on 12 January.

A second 19-year-old man who was arrested as part of the investigation was released on bail, the force added.
