Shipley toilets to reopen 10 years after closure

The toilets in Shipley Market Square were closed by Bradford Council in 2015

A public toilet block is set to re-open this summer, 10 years after it was closed down to save money.
The facility in Shipley Market Square was shut in 2015 as part of a raft of budget saving measures.
Now the building is set to re-open as part of works to improve the town centre and Market Square.
Rhona North, Vice Chair of Shipley Town Council, said: "Shipley Town Council is delighted that the long-awaited work to open new toilets has begun and the people of Shipley will be delighted when they are opened."
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, work on the toilets was originally due to start in October, but the contractors' procurement was delayed and only ended earlier this year.
The new facility, which will be run by Shipley Town Council, will feature two standard toilets and one fully-accessible toilet complete with baby-changing.
It will also contain storage space for market and outdoor equipment.
Funding for the project, and the wider improvements to Market Square, has come from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and government-backed Shipley Towns Fund.
