Child sex case against ex-police officer dropped
- Published
A former West Yorkshire Police officer who was being investigated over alleged historic child sexual exploitation has had a case against him dropped.
Amjad Ditta was based in the forces's protective services operations and worked in Bradford.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed there was no "realistic prospect of conviction" almost five years after Mr Ditta was charged with sexual touching in December 2019.
"The CPS has a duty to keep all its cases under constant review," a spokesperson for the CPS said.
"Following the receipt of further evidence, the CPS concluded that there was no longer a realistic prospect of conviction and so the case against this defendant has been stopped."
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said Mr Ditta was no longer a serving officer with the force, but his departure was not as a result of disciplinary proceedings.
