Two men have been arrested following reports of items being thrown over prison walls.

Northamptonshire Police was called to HMP Five Wells, external in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, at 09:00 BST earlier.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Two men in their 30s were detained and remain in police custody at this time.”

Last year there was a crackdown to try and prevent similar incidents at the same prison, which led to 14 people being arrested.

The male prison opened in 2022 and is privately run by the security firm G4S.
