Two people have been arrested after a teenage girl was assaulted and robbed in Nottingham city centre.

Police were called to Shortwood Close on Monday following reports the victim had been punched and kicked by two people who took her phone before fleeing the scene.

Nottinghamshire Police said the girl sustained facial injuries in the incident, which happened at about 16:20 GMT.

The force said an 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl were later arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Det Sgt Frank Guddemi said: "This was a horrible attack on a teenage girl, who has understandably been left shaken up as a result."

He added the investigation was ongoing and appealed for anyone with any footage or information to come forward.
