An investigation has been launched after a wall collapsed along a road in Derby.

Mile Ash Lane in Darley Abbey has been closed since the damage was reported on Sunday. Nobody is thought to have been injured.

Derby City Council has asked people and motorists to avoid the area and make alternative arrangements for their journeys.

The authority said it hoped to provide an update on when the road may reopen "as soon as we can".

A spokesperson said: “Following initial inspections today, we will carry out a more detailed inspection of the length of retaining walls along Mile Ash Lane as a precaution.

"Mile Ash Lane will remain closed until we can be sure it is safe to be re-opened.”
