Rail line reopens after gas leak repairs

A railway line has reopened after a gas main leak.
A safety cordon was put in place around London Road in Salisbury on Wednesday after someone digging ruptured a gas main pipe, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service (DWFRS) said.
South Western Railway services between Salisbury and Andover were affected, but reopened on Thursday evening.
Waseem Hanif, from gas distribution company SGN, said engineers had managed to make the area safe and had stopped gas leaking from the network.
However, further work is expected to take place on Friday.
More than 70 residents were safely evacuated from Laverstock Care Home during the early hours of the leak, but were allowed to return later that day.
