Police appeal after sexual assault at Camber Sands

Sussex Police is appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted at Camber Sands on Bank Holiday Monday.

The 57-year-old woman, from Kent, had been sunbathing in the sand dunes between zones G and H at on the East Sussex beach, when the attack happened at about 17:30 BST.

The woman, from Kent, said she was approached by an unknown man, who began to massage her before sexually assaulting her and fleeing on foot.

The force described the suspect as a white but tanned man in his mid-30s, of muscular build, with a full dark brown beard and crooked teeth.

He spoke with a foreign accent and wore a navy baseball cap and blue patterned shorts.

Sussex Police said: "The beach was extremely busy on Bank Holiday Monday and we are urging anyone who saw what happened, or anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity or captured it on camera, to contact us."
