A shop in Nottingham has been forced to close for three months after illegal goods were found being sold from the premises.

Victoria Mix, in Mansfield Road, was given a court-issued closure order on Thursday, following an investigation by Trading Standards officials and Nottinghamshire Police, which began in September.

Nottingham City Council said the inspection led to more than 800 products being seized, including 29 large canisters of nitrous oxide - a Class C drug.

City councillor Corall Jenkins said: "This result sends a clear message that we will not tolerate the sale of illegal and harmful products in our city."

The investigation also saw police and trading standards seize 79 illegal tobacco products and 739 illegal disposable vapes, the council said.

The authority added further inquiries confirmed the premises had been "regularly supplying" the products.

Jenkins, executive member for neighbourhoods, added: "Retailers have a legal duty to comply with the law, and Trading Standards will respond to any reports of illegal sales.

"Any reports we receive will be followed up with investigations and enforcement where necessary to ensure compliance."

The shop will have to remain shut and cease trading for three months under the order.
