More than £380,000 is being spent to replace water pipes in an East Yorkshire village, Yorkshire Water has said.

Work will begin in Weel, near Beverley, at the end of October and will last for 17 weeks with a break over the Christmas period.

The water firm said the investment would "improve resilience in the water network and maintain water pressure to manage fluctuations in demand".

Road closures will be put in place during the work.

Phase one will start on Carr Lane by The Homestead, towards the junction of Weel Road, between 28 October and 20 December.

The second phase, continuing along Weel Road to the junction of Grovehill Road, will commence on 2 January and run until 14 February.

Victoria Corbett, asset delivery project manager at Yorkshire Water, said: “This investment will improve resilience in the network, providing safe, clean, reliable water now and into the future.

“We apologise to residents for any inconvenience this may cause and thank them for their patience as we carry out this work."
