Firefighters spent five hours tackling a blaze involving a "large quantity of tyres" after flames spread from a nearby bonfire.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue was called to Lillington, near Sherborne, shortly after 11:30 BST after a "controlled burn started to spread".
Crews from Sherborne, Sturminster Newton, Yeovil and Wincanton used compressed air foam to tackle the fire in Higher Street.
Water was used to contain the flames and protect a nearby barn and woodland.
The fire was put out by 16:30 BST.
