Four residents and several police officers have been discharged from hospital following contact with a suspected noxious substance at a house in south Belfast.

Six fire engines, one ambulance and three police vehicles attended the scene on Damascus Street after reports that a number of people had become unwell on Tuesday evening.

Police said an investigation has been carried out and no noxious substance was detected.

A quantity of suspected drugs was removed from the house and inquiries are ongoing, police added.

Police are no longer at the scene and a cordon has been removed.

A noxious substance can refer to a material that is poisonous or harmful to humans, such as carbon monoxide.
