Gritter named Snoel Gallagher ahead of reunion

A council is to name a gritter after Oasis singer Noel Gallagher.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council made the decision after Noel and Liam confirmed they will be reuniting for a series of dates across the UK and Ireland in 2025.
In a social media post, the authority said: "Some might say we have a special announcement to make...there's going to be a reunion like no other.
"Snoel Gallagher will be joining the fleet this winter! Is it really happening? Definitely, Maybe!"
The puns continued on social media, with one user asking "maybe a Champagne SuperSnowva could assist?" and another saying "if it doesn't bother coming out and gritting the ice, I guess as per usual we will just have to roll with it!"
Last year, the council introduced five new gritters with names chosen by people on social media.
Elvis Spreadley, Meltem John, Double Snow Seven, Snowy Tribbiani and Sleeter Levy began gritting the roads last winter.
The authority began introducing names for its gritters in 2018.
Speaking at the launch of the gritter names for 2023, Councillor Paul West, the council's cabinet member for environment and transport, said: "It's all a bit of fun but it makes our gritters more visible. I really hope people will spot the gritters out on the roads and smile and wave at our drivers."
