Police arrested two men after tracking a BMW that sped away from the scene

Two men have been arrested after a cash-in-transit driver was assaulted and robbed outside a supermarket.

Essex Police said the incident took place outside Asda in Colchester at about 13:00 GMT on Saturday.

Armed officers and road pursuit officers were deployed after a grey BMW sped away from the scene.

Officers tracked the vehicle to Lexden and then Marks Tey before it was stopped and two men were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

The victim did not sustain any serious injuries, according to the police.
