Guernsey's chief minister said recent talks with UK counterparts had laid "promising" foundations for joint work.

The States of Guernsey said members from the policy and resources committee represented the island during the UK party conference season.

Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez, who attended the Labour Party conference, said "economic growth, fighting financial crime, the resilience of our economy and our connectivity" were areas officials wanted to work on together.

"Our discussions with various UK ministers, some of whom have only been in post for a few weeks, provide a promising basis for furthering these priorities during this new States term," she said.

The chief minister said the recent meetings "reinforced" strong intergovernmental relationships with the UK and with French regions.

The States said the minister for external relations, deputy Steve Falla, attended the both the Labour Party conference and the Liberal Democrats conference.

Deputy Gavin St Pier went to the Reform UK Conference and deputy Charles Parkinson is set to attend the Conservative Party conference next week.

Falla said it had been an "incredibly busy few weeks".

"I have been deeply impressed at the breadth and depth of the relationships that Guernsey already has and the warmth that has been shown for the island," he said.

"It is an honour to represent the island and its interests and to discuss the priorities of this policy and resources committee with external partners."
