A woman was knocked unconscious and subsequently robbed while she was walking along a canal towpath, police have said.

The attack happened on Friday in Kidderminster, at about 13:00 BST, West Mercia Police said.

The victim said she was approached by two boys on mountain bikes, with dark clothing and face coverings, who kicked her to the ground on the path, between Sainsbury's and the Post Office, just off Carpet Trades Way.

She was knocked unconscious as she fell to the ground and when she awoke she found her handbag had been stolen along with its contents.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or those with information about the attack to come forward.
