Three people have been arrested after a machete and drugs were seized from a property in York.

Officers from North Yorkshire Police raided the address in Fossway in the early hours of Thursday, and also found a quantity of cash.

A 40-year-old man, from York, an 18-year-old woman, from Leeds, and a 16-year-old boy, also from Leeds, were arrested during the incident.

The force said all three remained in custody while the investigation continued.

Police believe the drugs found at the property were class A and B substances and said they would be sent for analysis.

Sgt Stuart Henderson said: "As this warrant operation shows, we work day and night to tackle suspected drugs and weapons offences and keep communities safe.

"We're here for residents and we're on their side. We're also working around the clock to make North Yorkshire a no-go area for criminals."

He added that in the past six months, crime in North Yorkshire had reduced by 4.6% overall, with serious violent crime down by almost 6%.
