Four remanded in custody over violent disorder

Staffordshire Police have arrested 13 men and one woman over the disorder so far

Four people have been remanded into custody relating to the violent disorder in Tamworth and Stoke-on-Trent.

Darren Woodley, 55, Cameron Bell, 23, and Kyle Barber, 24, all from Tamworth, pleaded not guilty to violent disorder at Cannock Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Tyler Marchese, 21, from Burslem, appeared accused of violent disorder and assault by beating of an emergency worker

All four will next appear before Stafford Crown Court on 26 August.

Mr Marchese is accused of hitting a police officer with a brick, but made no indication as to his plea.

So far, Staffordshire Police have arrested 14 people on suspicion of violent disorder.

The riots were sparked by online misinformation that the suspect in the fatal stabbing of three girls in Southport on 29 July was a Muslim asylum seeker.

Staffordshire Police said it was aiming to make about 30 arrests over the disorder.
