Six people charged over Sunderland city riots

Six people have been charged in connection with rioting that broke out in Sunderland on Friday.
Northumbria Police said five men and one woman had been charged with violent disorder, with one man also charged with burglary.
A boy, aged 17, was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of violent disorder, bringing the total number of arrests to 14.
The six charged people are due to appear in court on Monday.
There were chaotic scenes across the city on Friday evening as violence broke out during a protest following the fatal stabbing of three girls in Southport.
Buildings were damaged and officers were injured, with mosques also targeted.
'Further arrests expected'
The six men, aged between 27 and 48, are due to appear before magistrates on Monday.
Seven others, including one woman, five men and a 16-year-old boy, have been released on bail pending further inquiries.
The 17-year-old arrested on Sunday remains in police custody.
Police have repeated an appeal for witnesses to Friday night’s violence to contact them or use the major incident public reporting site, external but urged communities to avoid speculation and "respect the ongoing legal process".
Sunderland area commander Ch Supt Mark Hall said further arrests were expected.
