A man has been charged after a stabbing in a park.

Officers were called at about 20:10 BST on Monday to reports of an incident in Christchurch Park in Ipswich, Suffolk.

The victim, a man in his 20s, sustained serious stab wound injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance, police said on Tuesday.

A 48-year-old man has been charged with two counts of possession of a bladed article.

He has been remanded into custody and is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Suffolk Police has urged people not to speculate about the background or circumstances of the incident online and said inquiries were ongoing.
