A man accused of possessing explosives and of carrying a dagger at his local Sainsbury's has appeared in court.

Ryan Swan was arrested on 19 August, the day on which he is alleged to have carried the dagger in the supermarket on Central Road in Morden, south-west London.

He is also alleged to have knowingly possessed a quantity of black powder, believed to be an explosive substance, on or before this date.

The 42-year-old from Morden appeared at the Old Bailey via video-link from Wandsworth Prison. Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb set a plea hearing for 10 January at Kingston Crown Court, with a seven-day trial provisionally scheduled for November 2026.
