A man has died in hospital after an alleged assault at a shopping precinct, prompting the launch of a homicide investigation.
Suffolk Police was called at 20:05 BST on Saturday following reports a man in his 50s had been seriously assaulted at the St Olaves shops in Bury St Edmunds.
He was taken to West Suffolk Hospital where he later died, police confirmed.
A 54-year-old was arrested and remanded in custody after being charged with causing grievous bodily harm. He is due to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on 26 August.
A police spokesperson said the force had launched a homicide inquiry and would be "working with the Crown Prosecution Service to progress the investigation accordingly".
"Officers continue to support the family of the deceased at this difficult time," they added.
