A group of people at a house party had to barricade themselves into a bedroom as burglars ransacked the property.

The incident happened on 21 April at around 05:00 BST at a home on Semington Road, Melksham, said Wiltshire Police.

Three or four people in balaclavas broke into the property after breaking a window, forcing the occupants to hide in an upstairs room.

The force has appealed for witnesses, including anyone who might have dashcam or doorbell footage in the area around that time.

Police said the intruders caused extensive damage in the home, including pulling mirrors off the walls and causing damage to the stair banisters.

It is believed they made off on foot in the direction of the town centre.
