An 80-year-old man has admitted causing the death of a motorcyclist by driving carelessly.

Raymond Dagnall had been travelling along Park Road in Worsbrough, when he hit a motorbike ridden by Aaron Smith.

Mr Smith, 25, from Hoyland, died of his injuries in hospital the next day, following the crash on 22 November.

Dagnall, of Harvest Close, Barnsley, pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving at Barnsley Magistrates' Court. He was granted unconditional bail and is due to be sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court on 5 December.

The court heard Dagnall had no previous convictions and had "immediately given up his licence" after the crash.

In a previous statement, Aaron Smith's family said he had been a "caring and thoughtful" son who had lived a "wonderful life".

"AJ is our beautiful son now and forever. He made us the proudest parents in the world," they said.

The statement added Mr Smith had been an organ donor, so there was "a part of AJ walking around and helping people".
