Rescue teams located the walkers after spotting their illuminated torch

Two missing walkers have been found after they got lost on Dartmoor, rescuers say.

Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team Plymouth said it was called to the Hen Tor area at about 17:00 GMT on Tuesday after the pair dialled 999.

It said rescuers helped police find the walkers who were unable to find their way back to their car.

"The two lost walkers did the correct thing by staying where they were and using their torch to illuminate their location," the team said.

"As a result, the light was spotted by the team on the opposite side of the valley."

The rescue team said the pair were found after police sent a SARLOC text, a system used to assist locating lost people, to one of the walkers.

They were then found safe and well and later reunited with their vehicle.
