Assault charges after woman and officers injured

A man has been charged with assault after a woman and four police officers were injured following an incident.

Norfolk Police were called to Rouen Road, Norwich, at 15:00 BST on Thursday, following reports that three men were assaulting a woman.

Officers went to the scene and arrested three people.

A 27-year-old man was charged with five counts of assault and one of attempting to use a firearm (PAVA spray). He is due to appear at Norwich Magistrates' Court.

Two men in their 20s have been bailed pending further inquiries, police added.

The woman was treated in hospital and has since been discharged, while the officers returned to duty after medical treatment, the force added.

The 27-year-old's assault charges were one count of assault, one count of assault with intent to resist arrest and three counts of assault on an emergency worker.

Officers are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident, police added.
