A cyclist has been killed in a collision at a busy roundabout.

Emergency services were called to the junction of the A4040 Stoney Lane and Church Road in Yardley on Tuesday evening.

Paramedics tried to treat the 48-year-old man but he was confirmed dead at the scene.

The driver of a black Ford Focus which was involved in the collision was uninjured and was helping police with their inquiries.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said the cyclist suffered serious injuries and staff gave emergency life support treatment.

“Sadly, despite their best efforts it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."

The cyclist's family has been informed and was being supported by police.

A spokesperson said: "The driver of the black Ford Focus, a man aged 68, was not injured and remained at the scene. He is helping with our investigation."

Anyone witnesses to the incident or anyone with dash cam footage has been asked to contact police.
