Drink-drive council boss banned after crash

The former boss of a south London council has been disqualified from driving for two years and ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work after he admitted drink and driving, failing to stop after a car crash and driving without insurance.
Bayo Dosunmu, who was chief executive of Lambeth Council until his arrest earlier this year, pleaded not guilty to possessing Class A drugs and will be tried for that offence next year.
Dosunmu, 46, was involved in a crash in June with a car waiting at traffic lights at the junction of Wandsworth Bridge Road and Townmead Road in Fulham, south-west London.
He did not stop until the other car forced him to pull over.
'Relying on friends'
A police breathalyser test found him to be almost three times the legal limit.
Chief magistrate Paul Goldspring told Dosunmu: “You have previous good character. There’s significant impact on your career. You have lost your job.
"You have led a blameless life and it has been highlighted you have led a life in public service.”
The court heard how since losing his £190,000 salary at the council, Dosunmu had been relying on friends and family for assistance.
The council is currently recruiting for his replacement.
